Airport Maps - Going Against the Flow

Thursday, April 30, 2015

Over 40 international airport maps will be available when this project is completed on May 15th (see Atlanta for example). These maps, provided in the Travel Tools section of ATACarnet.com, illustrate how to find customs when departing from an airport with an ATA Carnet.

Since airports are not designed to have customs easily available to a departing passenger, carnet users can feel as if they are "going against the flow" when they need to get a carnet validated upon departure. The "carnet-customized airport maps" help a carnet user navigate through an airport to locate a customs official and get a carnet validated for departure. Other handy features include:

  • Customs information not readily available online
    • arrows pointing to the location of the customs office,
    • a written description of SPECIFICALLY how to find customs,
    • customs hours of operation,
    • customs phone number.
  • Useful Terms & Translation
    • a language aid to help locate customs,
    • the airport abbreviation, and
    • the official name of the customs authorities in that country.
  • Other Helpful Contact Information
    • general airport information, and
    • phone numbers and web address for boomerang carnets® Carnet HelpLines®.

Questions and requests for specific airports to be added to this library are always welcome.
