A Trusted Partner Shines Light on Boomerang

Boomerang carnets® 35th Anniversary Celebration pays tribute to a long-term relationship that, over the years, has become one of our most valued and trusted partners.  We spotlight Brad Watson of Airways Freight who has been associated with Boomerang since the early 1990’s.  The growth of Airways Freight as a company is explicitly linked to Boomerang, and we appreciate our friendly association of over 30 years.

An integral part of Boomerang’s mission is to help grow businesses with the use of the ATA Carnet, an internationally accepted customs document for temporarily exported merchandise or goods that allows cross border movement of those goods import-duty and -tax free into 87+ carnet countries and territories for up to a year.  The ATA Carnet is also known as the Merchandise Passport for boomerang freight® and ideal for professional equipment, commercial samples, and goods for display at exhibitions and trade shows moving in and out of countries.

“Airways Freight was one of the first users of Carnets-by-Fax,” said Curt E. H. Wilson, President, and CEO of boomerang carnets.  “It may seem funny now because of our advanced technology, but the fax machine some thirty years ago, compared to snail mail, streamlined the carnet application process considerably.”   

Brad Watson of Airways Freight concurs and recalls how we became trusted partners and a part of each other’s shared history forged 30+ years ago.

“When Curt first called on us in the early 90’s, we were relatively new to the forwarding business.  About all we knew about carnets was, they were a big hassle to get generated.  Then one day we get a call from this guy in Chicago telling us he was coming to Arkansas to come see a client, and he wanted to come see us.  So, he comes down and then proceeds to tell us that all he did was carnets, and that he could turn them around to us in 24 hours.  We were, of course, skeptical, because for one, how do you make a go of a business that just does carnets?  And two, it was taking weeks to get carnets processed through other providers, so how was he going to do that?  I mean, this was in the days of the fax machine!   Somehow Boomerang delivered...  At that time, we really did not know how important that service would end up being to our company.  Looking back, it was one of the keys to our ability to grow and succeed in the international exhibition and events business and has also helped open doors into other niche markets that we would not have been able to touch without them.  So, thank you Curt and the Boomerang team for partnering with us all these years.  We would never be where we are without you!”
