Boomerang carnets® is now considering which orchestra executive directors  and operations managers will receive the five 2011 Carnets "Play the World" scholarships to help defray the costs of attending their annual leadership and education conference. This is the second year of the scholarships which are awarded to League of American Orchestra members that tour internationally.

Barrington, IL (PRWEB) March 21, 2011 -- Five League of American Orchestra members will be awarded 2011 annual conference scholarships by boomerang carnets® as of May 1st. The Carnets “Play the World” scholarships are awarded to professional and youth orchestras that promote American orchestras through their international tours. Orchestras that have not toured but that plan to tour internationally within the next three years are also eligible for the scholarship. To emphasize the importance of professional education for orchestra operations professionals, the awards are directed to Executive Directors and Directors of Operations who are members of the League of American Orchestras. Each award covers virtually the entire cost of registration fees (or travel expenses), averaging $500 per scholarship recipient. This year’s conference is in Minneapolis from June 6th – 9th. Scholarship recipients appreciate the monetary award since, in most cases, they would not be able to attend the conference due to budget constraints. Anyone interested in being considered for the scholarship award can contact Moira Wilson of boomerang carnets® at 847-852-3104 or Moira@ATACarnet.com

The 2010 scholarship recipients included: Christine Burgener, Assistant Director of Operations, Milwaukee Symphony; Heather Stengle, Director of Operations, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra; Ahmad Mayes, Director of Operations & Artistic Administration, Youth Orchestras of San Antonio; Lisa Dixon, Chief Operating Officer, Memphis Symphony Orchestra; and Cathy Spieth, Executive Director, El Camino Youth Orchestra. Three of the five were first time attendees to the League of American Orchestras annual conference.
