Brazil, Turkey, Thailand - Ask a Carnet Specialist

Thursday, January 5, 2017

WARNING! If Brazil, Turkey or Thailand are a destination for an ATA Carnet (and listed goods) it is advised to consult with a Carnet Specialist prior to applying for a carnet.

Recent reports from the World ATA Carnet Council (WATAC) indicate that these three carnet countries can experience issues when presented with an ATA Carnet. The issues vary country to country however a consistent theme is lack of experience, as in the case of Brazil, or lack of training, as in the case of Thailand. The international authorities, the International Chamber of Commerce / WATAC, are working diligently to resolve these issues.

In the meantime, applicants are advised to call the National Carnet Service Center on the Carnet HelpLine® (800.ATA.2900) for detailed information concerning using a carnet into any of these three countries.
