CIB ATA CARNET ADVISORY

INDIA EXPANDS WHAT IS ACCEPTABLE UNDER AN ATA CARNET

Effective immediately India has expanded the definition of what is an acceptable event for the use of an ATA Carnet for Fairs and Exhibitions. Previously, the only acceptable use of an ATA Carnet to India was for Fairs and Exhibitions that were on the approved list produced by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO).

As of October 18th, 2005 the USCIB announced that ATA Carnets may now be used in India for any Fairs and Exhibitions regardless of whether they are on the ITPO approved list.

Please note that, as in the past, a special form may be required to travel to India using an ATA Carnet for Fairs and Exhibitions. This 3-page questionnaire is available through Corporation for International Business (CIB) and CIB can complete the form on behalf of the ATA Carnet holder for a nominal fee.

If you experience any problems or have questions about this change please contact the CIB Carnet HelpLine at (800) ATA-2900 or e-mail.
