CIB ATA CARNET ADVISORY

Carnets to China: No More Cover Letters Required

Effective as of July 20, 2005, the ATA Carnet Issuing authority in China no longer requires presentation of a cover letter along with the carnet to be presented to Chinese customs inspectors.

While this cover letter has been required since 1998, it is no longer necessary per the request of Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).

Questions about this change in procedure can be directed to the CIB Carnet HelpLine: 800 ATA-2900 or e-mail us.
