When Applying for a Carnet
Requirement of the US Census Bureau, Foreign Trade Statistics Regulations
U.S. exporters are required to submit an SED with each export shipment including temporary exports travelling under carnet. For details for those requirements click here. There are several exemptions to this requirement, the most notable being for shipments under $2500 in value.
CIB's SED Service for Carnet Applicants
At the time a carnet application is submitted the applicant may also have CIB complete and electronically file the required SED. CIB is a certified AES - Automated Export System - filer which is a program of the US Census Bureau, Foreign Trade Statistics. The cost for this service is usually $25.00.
